oh dear. Sorry but you really need to scrap the whole 'brain' image... It's just off putting. Not usually this harsh, but you need to go in a completely different direction with this.Something less.. literal.

Wow. That's a pretty awful website!

I'd focus on the wave thing...or maybe not a literal "brain" but something suggesting thought, mind, head...something like that. Also, the broadband thing - communications, speed, data, etc.

There could be a bunch of associations. Just brainstorm them for a while, write down words for 5 minutes that have anything to do with brans, waves, brainwaves, or broadband.

Haha, whoops. I meant brains not brans.

Yeah, it's too explicit. Try something more subtle.
Also maybe think of the actual representation of brainwaves, something like this:

EDIT: Found this, too. You could find some interesting ideas on this page, as well.

he wants to stay away from the medical look. maybe that's why i'm so stuck.

what do you guys think about a top view of a brain, with the split in the middle, and instead of being a brain, it's 2 B's, in the same shapd, back-to-back? (Brainwave Broadband) i'll try to get one sketched. this is my second project in illustrator, so it'll take me a bit.

A wavy line doesn't have to look medical.

So a brain isn't medical look?

I thought you could find inspiration in some of these...

you're absolutely right. both sides of the arguments are good points here. by the way, emilpaun, those links were helpful, and did actually inspire an idea for me. thank you.

this is an area where the client may have dug himself into a hole, because he chose the name "brainwave" but wants to stay away from using "brainwaves". unbelievable. he's right though. almost all the "brainwave" companies are medical and have "brainwaves" incorporated into their logo. you don't see many with an actual brain. (probably for good reasons. too literal you say, right?) man, this was supposed to be quick and easy. ugh. i most definately cannot deliver this guy a quality website with the logo he has though. that's my only motivation.

i'm in such a stinking brain freeze. aah!! great. the word "brain" is sneaking into my vocabulary. i can't escape it. i'm taking a day off from it.

(speaking to the author of this thread.. > ?? haha..) - but yeh its effective... very... it gives u a variety of options... i'd agree with the "focus on the wave thing"... i had that in mind before reading tat... so tat might be effective.

New idea...finally.

Ok, finally got rid of the brain! Thank God!

I haven't picked a font for the company name yet, so there's no ID on it.

Keep in mind, this is my second complete work in illustrator. (man that program is HARD!)

needs to be simple and readable (identifiable) from a distance. this will not work at small sizes...
yes - it's more of an illustration that a logo and i also think its somehow disturbing.
also - the perspective needs correcting: the centre of the dish does not look right.

Its all abit literal.

You dont have to smack someone in the face with a picture of a head and a picture of some broadband.
