Vector tuts+

Just come across this vector tutorials site which I thought was brilliant and thought I'd share it with you all.

Okay, I know there's some naff stuff on there but there's also some really good tutorials, I've counted about 3 tutorials that I could have done with if I had known about this site earlier.

Adobe Illustrator & Vector Tutorials - Vectortuts+

PSDTuts+

Aswell as sixrevisions

I realise these aren't vector tuts but thought I'd point it out too

Bit late to the party mandy. The envato network has been going for ages. They do photoshop, illy, ae, 3d, coding and some others. Lots of talent there.

There's a bit of shit on the ae section though.

It might be, but the vision and take on it is amazing, also to see the original pictures (Something I dont usually get to see) makes it more impressive for me.

Several times in the past the Envato Network has supported spec work (on FreelanceSwitch and Creattica Daily.) Take from that what you will. I, for one, won't support them because of it.

I subcribed to the rss, but I find it a little boring actually. I prefer tutorials that teach me the tools then let me work out how to create something that's beautiful using my own ideas. Its sort of like they're reducing art into a recipe - a sort of paint-by-numbers thing. Not for me.

If I want inspiration I'll turn to dropular or a blog like FormFiftyFive, not a site that tells me how I should be doing things.

But I think the best way to learn the tools is to apply it to an actual creation shown step by step, then you can apply it to your own designs afterwards.

In the past year and a half of reading both, I don't recall any support of spec work. While they have been more on the neutral side sometimes, their overall trend is that it's bad.
