I can't draw a tree!

I've recently shocked myself after creating a lot of good vector images for my company, usually I stumble a bit and my mind goes blank but like I said I have been lucky.

The problem with my company is that never give me images or ideas to work to so I have been producing my own illustrations for them... they loved it and now I have 2 banners to design for an exhibition held at Birmingham NEC in March. One for Environment and the other is for Innovation. I decided to produce two vector images, a tree and a light bulb. I have two colours to work with, P286 & P364. I'm ok with the light bulb but I can't draw a frigging tree! I have been tracing photographs of trees all day and they all look too detailed as the Innovation light bulb is very simple.

I think I'm struggling because I'm under pressure. Helpppp!!! I haven't even started designing the layouts yet and the clocks ticking! Anyone with any suggestions on drawing a nice simple two coloured tree?

Deciduous or coniferous?

I have that Neubauwelt book at work with lots of tree vectors (and leaves for that matter) but at home now I'm afraid. Maybe draw a few different tinted leaf shapes and create a scatter brush in illustrator to get a bit of volume and randomness. The trunk shouldn't be too difficult after you get the leaves right.

Draw a tree the same way as it grows - start at the bottom and branch out! Then draw smaller branches on them etc and end up with twigs and leaves.

Cheers mate! Looked on NeubauWelt.com, I want that book now! Won't be able to get it in time though from Amazon Might see if I can get anything similar on ebook format.

I can see why you can't draw a tree now. You're thinking of wrong shapes.

Everybody, I'm sorted now!
Thanks to Luxbrand who suggested Neubau Welt, a big thank you to the star member who supplied me files and the other members who offered. My copy of the book is arriving next week!

Oh... and a thank you to Emil whose put a smiled on my face during a time when I was stressed!

This is the biggest help I have ever had from DT, I thought I was being a bit stupid for posting a thread about not being able to draw a tree! This proves what a great community we have on DT... designers and developers who are always happy to go out of their way to help!

X X muah muah!!
