3D or not 3D. That is the question...
Okay, I have decided working in 3D is far too much of a specialist area and will probably look into it again in more detail if I ever get a spare couple of months! So, I cracked on with the character illustrations in Illustrator using grads and meshes. Not quite the effect I was looking for (will be 3D CG rendered cartoon animation) but I think the concept suitably reflects this? Still needs some polish here and there but thought I'd post for any feedback from a fresh perspective. ![]() Cheers. |

Yep, like them, they look 3d enough for me. 2 comments though. I am not too keen on the blur around the ears, I think they should be more defined. And I think their expression needs a bit more work, I mean I don't see them having a distinctive enough personality. But that's just nit-picky. Good job. Like I said, I like them. (PS Blends are far easier than meshes I find) |

Very nice illy's, pfft blends vs meshes, easier perhaps for basic stuff but I'd like to see you pull off that effect (er ... maybe use another phrase than pull off after cantona's comment) using blend. |

Yep blend (except for the purple shadows behind which I added in PS, but can be done with blends as well, although there's no point in doing that I like blends because you can quickly adjust the colour of the illustration by changing the underlying layer colours or blend modes. I actually never used a mesh. |

I am a bit stacked out with work at the moment, but I would love to model those in 3D. What kind of timescale is this job on? Might have a bash at the panda for the hell of it. unconsolidated isoparms

Where was you lot a couple of weeks ago? I was offering cash money to get these recreated as 3D models! May call on your services again soon though - I've just finished hashing together the habitats. Could definitely do with a hand with this. Let me know if you/anyone is up for this. ![]() Last edited by sub : 14-08-2007 at 12:47. |

well best of luck for your concept i think it does not matter how detailed your charector is imp. is how good the story is to attarct the viewer. not all have the quality to think in detail. Regards Web Design Mumbai, Graphic Design Mumbai, Navi Mumbai - Pixel Groups |

Once i get back next week i will hash out a character for you in 3d of your choice if you would like. If you have more concept art such as a side and a flat front then it will be easier to re-create. and I can create ALL of the scenic area's in 3D as well. Check out some of my work at Welcome to Heka - Interactive Media Design If you like what you see then send me a email mail and i will work with you. |
