Game Illustrations

Hi I was just wondering what you think of my graphic illustrations that I created for a Flash game. I created these graphics using a mix of Illustrator, Photoshop and Fireworks, I mainly used Fireworks though.

I would submit other exampes but the file sizes are too big to attach to this post.

I think they're very effective as illustrations. Really, I can't comment more because I don't see them in context.

Well to briefly summarise - its for a game in which a young boy awakens and has no idea who he is and where he is. As he awakens a bright light ascends upon him and beckons him to follow. This then leads you to various levels in which you must over come obstacles a lot like Samorost. I tried to create a moody, dark atmosphere to the beginning scenes of the game and then as you progress through the game the scenes become more peacful and beautiful as night turns to day and you reach the end goal - to find home .

Do you think these illustrations portray this? I'm a university student so im still trying to perfect my techniques and skills so constructive critism and pointers would be great.

Yeah, I'd say they'd work for something like that.

I don't think they're quite up to the caliber of Samorost, but they're fine.

yeah i definately agree they no where near the calibre of samorost, but i am not trying to style the game like samorsot - the interactive element is meant to be similar to samorost. Each scene took about 3 hours to make and this was for a ten credit module at uni so I wasnt able to put in a lot of time into each scene.
