Switched over to CS2 Premium - Printing output problem with InDesign

Hi guys

This is my first post here, after getting this problem I was scouring the internet to find a solution. Maybe someone here can help me out?

Up until last week, I was using QuarkXpress 5.0, Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS and Acrobat 5.0 without much problems in printing, my prints came out all high quality through Quark and PDF.

About a week ago, my compnay bought the Adobe CS2 Premium package, I gotta say its an outstanding package, and a pretty big upgrade for me. I'm loving it so far on the software side of things, but there is one problem I cannot seem to solve.

There is a file i'm currently working on, the background is red with a black gradient over the top of it, fading to transparent, infront of that is a image of a bottle.

Now, when I print out this file through InDesign CS2, the red background with black gradient doesn't come out right, its almost as if its the printer cannot print the gradient properly and its coming out very rough and splotchy, same thing happens when I export it to PDF and print from PDF.

It only affects the gradient, the bottle image and text are all fine.

The strange thing is that, if I use Quark to print, it comes out all nice, and there isnt one single problem. So it cannot be the printer at fault. But, if i use Quark to export the file to PDF, then I still get the bad result.

I have checked and double checked my output settings in InDesign and Distiller, and they are all ok for high quality printing. I have tried using TIFF and EPS formats for the backgrounds and the result is the same.

I know the simple answer would be to just use Quark to print, but I need to solve this problem as, I'm moving from Quark to InDesign and will be doing all my Designing in InDesign in the future, I cannot have this problem all the time. I know its probbaly a long shot, but is there a solution for me?
