Red links in Safari

All unvisited links on a site are appearing in red on Safari - the links should be white, no other browser is behaving like that, there shouldn't even be a difference between visited, active, hover etc. there is only one mention of "#ff0000" in all of the css (and that's a background-colour on a li). Any ideas?

i came across the issue today, it seems almost random, however one problem that may cause the issue is a CSS file that returns a 404 error. If any CSS file that is referenced in your code is missing, change the link to one that loads.
This was also an issue that only happened on a windows server
