OK so im retarded, im sure we have all figured thnat out by now, so im going to make it as easy as possible for myself and whoever is trying to help me and post a live version and ask this one simple question and hope for the best when i come into the office tomorrow;

Can anyone fix the jquery script so that it works as intended with my current html? I would be soooo greatful. I just want "textbox to be the div that is shown when as default and i want text1 to show when the number anchor is hovered; without turning them into div tags so that i can avoid a ugly IE bug.

Is this not what you just posted?

and if you give your .number 'a' tag some anchor text, you will see it is in the top left corner

Ah! That's just because you have used # instead of . in your css (.number NOT #number)

can i chain "$('.number').hover" by doing

$('.number', '.menus', '.somethingelse', '.menus').hover

or does it not work this way?

yes but just a single set of quotes around them all:

$('.one, .two, .three').boobs()
