Print area in a webpage

Is there a way to define a part of a webpage to be printed, then have that part printed when the user clicks on a link ?

Cheers.

not sure about specifiying a region but you can put the text in associated text file and have that printed instead

ie news link prints news.txt

go to be a way to define in css you would have thought

not something i have looked at but should be able to solve it.

You could use a print stylesheet. Non-print parts could be styled as visible:hidden, leaving only the part you want printed shown.

using css and javascript. you'll have to define all the areas of your page with <div>'s and link two style sheets - one for media="screen" other media="print".

media="screen" styles your page as normal

print style sheet supresses all divs except for the bit you want printed.

slightly dodgy if your uses will want to print the wole page at some point.

i've just put a thing up for a client:

http://www.flark.co.uk/beahforthouse/print_test/ - click enter, then about us and checl out the code in there.

brn.

button - href="javascript:printWindow()"

media="screen" styles your page as normal

but that messes up in ie 6 unless you use normal link mode instead of @import rule

The only print pages I've done were assembled seperatly by a php script (the site was php based anyways) and with a separate css, but I guess that that is no help at all is it
