Some general / noob questions
I have experiece with graphic design and have taken a class or two on dreamweaver as well, but have never gotten into the coding portion of Web development. My boss wants me to start building a webpage for our reporting department. A few questions...not sure if they can all be answered. 1) Where do I start with learning...class, book? Im a hands on learner. 2) Eventually we need this site connected to our databases, which right now, we use access. Which language should the site be built in 3) Im planning on using dreamweaver since I am somewhat familiar with it. Good choice/bad choice? Any help is greatly appreciated, Im in the dark right now |

If it's for a business I would recommend not doing it yourself and practice on something personal. Especially when it comes to the database part. If your boss insists that you do it, then fair enough...do what you can with dreamweaver drag n drop and google anything you get stuck on. |

Time is something we are going to discuss. I wasn't sure the difficulty of what was being asked. I'm looking to see if its worth it for me to start learning this or if we should pass this off to the IT department to get them working on it |

That is a tall order for a first website. Your boss would be smart to hire someone who knows how to do it. It would save him time & money. A website like this involves html for the forms... php for the server behavior/database interaction, and (most likely) mySQL for your database. Each is its own realm that can take a lot of time to figure out. |
