Table CSS Quandary

For reasons undetectable to me, my 'location' class cells seem to be varying in width, despite having a defined width. Please excuse wordpress default theme, it's a plugin dev setup. Timetable « Fitzgraham Academy of Dance

You have a width of 2035px, it is probably struggling to deal with that.

taken that out, typo, but still same effect. It looks like the cells are getting progressively longer with each subsequent nested table, but firebug reports the correct figure throughout.

I've switched to using <col> tags, rather than giving cells width, no joy.

Interestingly if you remove the 260px fixed width on the class CSS definition, it works fine.

I suggest setting that col width to 260 instead of doing it via CSS? Perhaps the mix is screwing it up somehow.

Okay, putting the widths in one at a time has shown that there appears to be a max width, not sure where it is coming from, but it goes screwy once you breach it.

Is the max width set by the browser engine? It is inherited from the constraints of the containing element rather than actually set using css or html.
