black and white photo - replace colour help

how do i turn the black to blue? i want a blue and white photo. kinda blu-scale rather than grey scale.

Image - adjustments - desaturate
image - adjustments - hue/saturation
check the 'colorize' option
and slide the hue slider..

I'd go with Dan's suggestion to be honest, the Brightness & Contrast might need some tweaking after that.

Photoshop

Image > adjustments > desaturate
Image > adjustments > Colour Balance

although the duotone option will do the same, but will probably lighten it a little.

cheers chaps. adjusted the brightness and contrast first, then followed adras' stpes - worked a treat.

Of course if you do the adjustments as layers, you can fuck around for hours getting it just so...

yeah click the little black & white circle at the bottom of the layers panels. You can dick around without affecting the original.

I did it, but I duplicated the bottom saturated layer then colour dodged it to et the contrast effect then changed the opacity, took me about 1 minute to get a replica.
