This is kind related to this PDF thread

What we need is some sort of Doucment Object Model.

MS Word can do it! Why can't we? - basically I want to be able to know when it is the first page of a document, when it is another page (2 - x) and when it is the last page of the document.

The data is pulled in from an XML file, and we need to produce a document from the data with appropriate headers and footers and a clear front and back page. Originally we were aiming to use PDF as it seems an appropriate format, but we could also use HTML if possible.

Any help welcome, thanks.
