layout problem

the layout

the question

The sidebar is floated on the right, so it has no height.
How can I align the red item of the sidebar to the bottom of the main content ?

the red item is a list, it should be positioned as show on the image, but I can't, as it comes up under the previous item in the sidebar.

you could put the list inside the footer div and position it absolutely to put it just above it.

dirty I know, but it should do what you need it to do.

You could place the content division *inside* the sidebar but relatively positioned to the left, and then have the red bit placed underneath that...

What if I put it inside the content and absolute position it to bottom and negative right ?

that will do it as long as the sidebar remains short :\

could you make it a percentage of the sidebar's height?

given different sizes of the pages, it might end up being messy, but if all the pages were more or less similar, that might work.
