IE6 is not supporting transparent image

I'm trying to place a logo with transparent background.
the image is appearing fine in any browser except IE6.
I've used .gif and .png formats. png format is not working
in IE6 the bg is appearing in gray. If I use gif some white
distorted border is coming.
I've also tried giving mask for gif image but its also not working.

why this problem coming?? how can I overcome from this??

please help me.

Thanks,
Kiran
