Here's an example ...

You could try treating it like glass. A very light tint of colour with subtle gradients.
Can we see what you've done so far?

Actually, on second thoughts, I don't.

Sounds like a hiding to nothing - glass/plastic effects in Illy are just a product of fake reflected light - it's not going to tell them anything. Why not just print it? A decent inkjet could handle it and they get something to take home after the meeting. Everyone's a winner.

I really can't see the point in mocking this up, because it's never going to reflect (no pun intended) how it's going to look in reality.

They do want to print on it.. yes.. it will be a gift bag for the special edition of a magazine and its supplements... as its its 10th yr edition they want something special BUT as it is for a magazine there are many people who have a vote... so this is ONLY for pitching purposes... So they just want to see basic mock ups... printing onto plastic would be a good idea but the deadline is tomorrow and was given the update on the change in the brief at 5.45pm today... so it's gonna have to be a photoshop/illi mock up!!.... I was just after transparency/plastic looking techniques in illi or photoshop as mine looked a little late 90's photoshop. I would also show what i have previously done but it's all at work and it is 20.23 and i am tucking into my curry!!!

Priorities are right. Curry should come first.

Given the tight deadline I would've said anything you have already done is probably good enough. Me, I'd stick with doing a simple tint with transparency.
