Macbook: seemingly random outage...

I'm using the battery on my macbook (not plugged in to the power adaptor) and the screen keeps going black and sleeping randomly. It's just like when you run on reserve power, and when you're too late to plug in the adaptor, but it's just that I have 70% power.

Any ideas?

Its not something daft like you or a pesky other person has set up your mac so if you move cursor to the corner of the screen it goes to sleep for you?

Beyond that idea I can't think of anything though.

Have a look under "About This Mac -> More Info -> Power" and see how many cycles your battery's had, what's it say under health?

Try calibrating your battery (let it run down completely, then recharge unused to 100%), resetting the PRAM may also help. Did you install the battery firmware updater from back along? (Are all System updates done regularly?)

I would suggest flashing the pram. And run the battery down til it is completely dead then charge it full and see if that works. Or you could check out your energy saving options in system preferences and make sure they look normal.

Health Information:
Cycle count: 217
Condition: Good

This is going to sound stupid, but whats PRAM?

My system is updated as of last Monday. Will check for updates later today.
