help needed! ive got a macbook, and ever since i did some hungarian artwork amends (dont ask) - certain fonts have been showing up in weird places, and ive no idea how to change it. 2 examples: in mail, on the view message pain, the 'from' 'subject' 'to' 'cc' 'date' titles in light grey (im guessing thats what they are) are in russian/hungarian/double dutch. the subject is also in the same, but in the inbox list, the text is all in english, as are the recipients and date that follow from the grey text. also, on wikipedia, titles are mostly in the same language, but all text and sub-heads etc show in english. it seems totally random and is driving me fucking nuts. any ideas how to cure it? |

Sounds like a problem I had after I installed an OS update. Open up fontbook and try disabling Helvetica Fractions (I think) and restart the app. If that doesn't work I can't help I'm afraid. |

Download Font Doctor and see if you have any corrupted fonts. Have you been fiddling with the system fonts folder? (HD -> System -> Library Fonts) What's listed there? Are you using any third party font configuration tools/plug-ins? Also have you changed any settings within System Preferences -> International? (Especially the input pane?) |

Are you using Microsoft Word ? A friend of mine have had the same problem a fews days ago. MS Word's font managing system was fucking the whole thing. The repairing procedure is a bit complicated, I can ask if you wish. Fonts are like cologne: A bad choice speaks louder than a good one. Justin Feinstein

well i've arsed around with all the stuff mentioned, and still no luck. to answer some of the questions - yeah, my wiki displays fine in FF, only problem is in safari. and i use suitcase fusion to manage fonts. |
