Arghhh...rollover button keeps on shifting on the hover state!
I'm going crazy here. I have a rollover button placed in a cell that keeps on shifting on the hover state. However, this only happens in FireFox. manufacturing-pro.com/test2.php The button is currently being controlled by Javascript, but it does the same thing when I control it with CSS. I'm sure I'm missing a simple thing here. |

That's a Dreamweaver generated nested table nightmare. Not a web page. Time to move into this century. |

Well, if you specify line-height: 0; on a:link it won't move anymore. For containment sake I'd suggest id'ing the A container (eg, #addtocart) and put the line-height: 0; on that selector. At least that way this hack won't affect all your A tags. I can't say I endorse this approach but it should take care of this specific issue. I like the design of the page - nicely done. As pgo alluded to, you'd have a *much* easier time developing this site if you employed a css-based layout and dropped the tabular approach. This design is as good a candidate as any! hth |

And thats all that had to be done - so yet again pgo has demonstrated his lack of knowledge by ridiculing someone else. I really hope that "Moderator" strapline isn't real. Steve Woods

It was the best advice he could give you, it may have been harsh but it's honest - you're attempting to create a professional site using unprofessional methods, somebody like PGO will end up sorting that mess out one day. Bad practice gives us all a bad reputation, learn your trade |

Actually, I'm leaning more towards woodssss on this one. The guy came here with the legitimate question looking for some help. There's no sign above the door here that says "professionals only". There was absolutely no need to be flippant and rude to him straight off the bat - he did nothing to provoke it. Some people here are too much in love with this idea of giving everyone a rough ride, to the point of turning perfectly ordinary threads into a farce. When it's deserved, fine, go to town; but what's the point of being a dick to someone for no reason? |

I agree, and at times that is something that bothers me about this site. But the attitude of the guy got to me in the end. If you sink to someone's level in defending yourself, then you aren't much better than the person you are defending yourself against. |

I don't disagree; but who wouldn't be tempted to react with a few harsh words if they visited a forum to ask a perfectly normal question and got treated with disdain? Very few people who post here, I'd be willing to bet. Your point about sinking to the moral level of the attacker is valid, but it also results in "we're allowed to be rude to people who come here, but they're not allowed give it it back". Fair? |

The point can be made concisely that the way they were treated wasn't appropriate without turning to insults. Although when it comes down to it, you are right in that most people are going to reply with some harsh words themselves (I probably would). I personally thought that his first reaction was the best one. I agreed with him fully (inside - I never actually came out with the point) that PGO's response wasn't a great one, and I thought that his sarcastic response showed it quite well. I think that most people would have been able to see that without him getting all bitter about it, as he did in later posts. |
