It really depends on how much you have to show them. If you've just got one page so far, it might be enough just to take a screenshot (printscreen on the keyboard), crop it in photoshop, then do file->save for web and then e-mail it to your client. If you've got a number of pages, you can zip them up and e-mail them to the client, but the usefulness of this depends on whether they know what to do with a zip file. If you've got your own web space already, you could deploy your pages to that space and then just give the client a URL. In that case you might want to put it behind a password , or look into making sure it doesn't get indexed until you're done building it. |

![]() Amazon.ca: Web Design For Dummies: Lisa Lopuck: Books "Web Design for Dummies covers an amazing array of stuff from planning and client management through to creative strategies, production, and even how to manage your own consulting business. What I found most insightful was the way Lisa covers the entire web design workflow- showing you the entire creative process, even user testing." Seems like it may be right up your alley. By the way, I'm not calling you a dummy. Please don't hurt me! |

some possible clarification for the way pgo responded. your thread title indicates that you are a web designer when your actual post clearly indicates you are nowhere near being one. it'd be the same if i went to a medical forum saying "new doctor need help!" and then asking everyone what the hell a stethoscope is for. |

PGO's comments may seem harsh to some but come on. A Web designer no matter how new should be aware of this invention known as the World Wide Web, or the Web for short. They should be aware that things put on the Web are visible to people around the world. They should understand that the best way to show someone something that is not sitting in front of the same screen as them would be to put that something on the Web. More reasonable would have been a question on how to actually achieve that, so let's imagine that that is what the question is... First you need some Web space - free will do for now. Take a look here for some suggestions and set up an account with one of those. It's also highly likely that your ISP (who you use to connect to the Internet) provides some Web space for you at no extra charge. Take a look on their Web site or give them a call to find out more. Now you're going to need some FTP (File Transfer Protocol) software to get your files uploaded (so long as your free host supports that. A lot of regular FTP software is also available as a free 'lite' version - have a search for 'ftp' on Download.com or thefreesite.com which I linked you to for free Web hosting. Once you've created a new directory for your client and uploaded your files you send your client a link and they can take a look. If you don't like the URL (Web address to you) that you'll be sending your client use a redirect service such as tinyurl or welcome.to short URL redirect and forwarding service to make it a little friendlier. |
