It's a major design flaw, but they've never fixed it. Every mighty mouse suffers from the same problem. I put up with it for about 6 months and then bought a Logitech. Best purchase I ever made for my Mac. There are plenty of alternative mice that are more reliable, much more comfortable, and do sideways scrolling. |

I agree, the mouse is shit. I had one at work and it jammed all the time. I just gave up the ability to scroll. But when I did bother to clean it, I found rolling a thin strip of clear tape, sticky side out, into the ball chambers would pull out all sorts of offending gunk. Nik is: http://www.nikdaum.com

I remembered cleaning my cassette heads with it back in the early days of the ZX Spectrum when you had to load your stuff from a domestic tape recorder. Seemed like the most likely candidate for degreasing a mighty mouse (although when my mouse first snarled up and I took it to the 'genius bar' in the Apple Store, they used distilled water). |
