hey guys, i was wondering if any of you took uni course for web design ? How was it ?

I have applied for few web design courses here in scotland. So was wondering how much you are actually expected to know for very first year ?

I think it depends on the course, but my guess would be not much. (Hence the point of doing the course). Although I'm sure any prior knowledge is probably a bonus. I'd contact the uni and find out.

the only thing i learnt in my first year at uni was where exactly my beer limit lay.

I study Cognitive Artificial Intelligence at Utrecht University, and there has been a short lesson about HTML and TeX. They actually based it on web-standards, which kind of surprised me.
But it didn't make me a better web-designer.

What could really help you is a strong study in computer science or some graphic design background, depending on what's your focus.

Well i am going to take Interactive media design course Napiar or Web Development course in Uni of Abartae.

I already know a bit about web design and coding in css and html, but need to improve quite a bit.
