one coulmn starts lower than the others?

I'm new to web-design and all stuff associated with it so don't get angry at me for seeming stupid.

Firstly, I'm just learning how to build them, so it's ugly at the moment and hasn't got any content.

Basically my problem is that I've made a three coulmn layout using floating, and for some reason, the left and central columns are both at the correct height, however, the right coulmn starts lower than the others.

Any help would be much appreiciated.

try wrapping them all into one container eg.

<div id="container">
<div id="column1"></div>
<div id="column2"></div>
<div id="column3"></div>
</div>

try a structure like that
