I need a gallery easily inserted into a page, any recommendations?

Hey everyone.

Starting a new venture, and am going to be building the site on wordpress but using only the content markup as the only bit of cms I need, so it doesn't bork up my site, and with that I need some gallery software to be placed central on the page, within the content.

easily updated, easy new folders created, easy to alter thumbnails, simple, an easily customisable layout for next and previous buttons.

anyone got any recommendations? no fluff.

I used gallery2 with Joomla. It works well but it was an arse to set up to the point where I nearly gave up.

I'm still having problems making it sync properly with Joomla, but I think that is the fault of the bridging component.

It might be a doddle for you with wordpress but I had a nightmare with it.

I'm quite annoyed at how over complicated something could be. This is what I need:

A CMS that doesn't affect my layout at all, just lets me type normal paragraphs into the content and sidebars.

A Gallery that fits snuggly into the content section, where all I need to do is update the photos and photo albums via ftp/just uploading them.

It's all a bit cackhanded though, I'm messing with gallery2 now, and I think I'm going to have to hack about a bit to get this worthwhile, which is not what I wanted. I can't use flickr, lightbox or a flash based one but I just wish it was as simple as it should be.

I might be a bit late for this, but over the past couple of months I've been checking out various CMS's and have found some pretty cool ones with modules that might fit your needs upleft.

The last two may not be quite what you're looking for, but people would've written some gallery plugins for them, I would imagine.

I'm about to setup one for the father in law and was looking at using Exponent CMS.

Good luck!
