What is the different of Backend and Frontend?

What is the different of Backend and Frontend? in wiki, i tried to hook some
meaning but still i don't understand. I thought back end is more like
scripting page while front end is just compose by html page.
could somebody explain me further and clearer enough, something that
understandable or easy to understand.. thanks advance

You're not far off really; typically, 'front-end' code consists of things that tend to execute in the visitor's browser, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.

'Back-end' code is a fair amount of the other stuff, the stuff that makes the site dynamic in a vast amount of ways. Code/languages such as Ruby, PHP, .NET, Java, etc. are all common 'back-end' languages.
