any good on illustrator tuturial forums?
hi guys. i need to learn how to draw with an adobe illustrator. i only have a basic knowledge of this software, and couldn't really find a right tutorial. i have to draw this image image1 like this image2 i have to replace the image. i tried by myself few times, but i'm clueless. and can i do this in photoshop? and could you guys recommend me a good tutorial site? |

so you basically need to trace the outlines. If that's the largest picture you have, you will probably lose some of the details. You will need to use the pen tool. Press successively P,A,P (shortcuts for pen, direct selection tool, pen again) and that way, using your mouse and combinations of ctrl/cmd shift and alt keys you should be able to trace it. I don't know a particular website, but having a look around google for "illustrator pen" yielded this result, which seems to cover the basics of the pen tool. One thing you need to remember is not to click too often. If you use fewer points you will get smoother shapes. Of course you can do it in photoshop, and if you really have too much time on your hands even paint, but I think you'll be better off learning Illustrator in the long run. With your particular object it would be best if you started it off as rectangles (generally it's best to start form a basic shape rather than you start tracing it around, I find) that you can bend into place eventually. Bring your image into illustrator, drop its opacity and lock it's layer so you can draw straight over it. Luck. |
