New Portfolio, help help

twosix Drag & Drop ohfive

Right - I've started work on a simple new portfolio, idea being that i stick all my work up and people can drag and drop it, using some javascript very kindly supplied by stickman.

All the images are in divs basically. Now i'm trying to add textual content, and i'm doing it the same, sticking the text in divs and i've positioned those divs to the right of the first few images. Thing is, when i put the text divs on top of the image divs, all the images go flying down to below the last bit of text. Any ideas?

I know my css is probably a hash up but that can be sorted later.

Cheers, Pat

appreciate that it's very clever to create something like that in javascript, but why not use flash?

Its not bringing ones I select to the front, which is a bit of a pain.

Also it seems to be scrwing up some of the selections, my mouse gets 'stuck' on one and I can't select another behind it... apart from the glitches its a nice idea.

Totally fucked. Do something else.

Yet another attempt at trying to re-invent the web without the re-education course first.

Dusteh, you forgot to scroll across to the right first. Duh!

That drag & drop stuff is only cool when it's useful. There isn't anything gained by using it in the way you have.

I personally would flash it too. If you`re that confident with javascript, flash actionscript will make sense.

Many many tutorials out there...

why would anyone even want to drag and drop your portfolio items around the screen??? and i have no idea what you're after either.

Do you even understand what you just said, because I sure as hell don't. Saying "use AJAX" without saying what you want to actually acheive is pointless. I might aswell say "That would work well with PHP"... but how? AJAX isn't just a buzz word to be dropped randomly into conversation.

Agreed, scrap it, it is pointless. Especially annoying when it gets stuck on one div and won't let you drag others, not to mention things being hidden behind other divs. Also if you have never made anything in flash before, don't bother trying to do this in flash, the end result will be the same. Dragging and dropping stuff isn't good for much. I have seen shopping carts, and social networking sites, make use of it. But essentially it isn't really that useful.

Sounds like a block level element is trying to clear the last float, is everything floated?
