sIFR antialiasing options
My flash knowledge is minimal to say the least, generating the files needed for sifr is simple enough however I've run into the problem that the anti-aliasing is too heavy over one colour and too light over another colour - makes for it looking pretty shoddy and inconsistent. So short of converting everything into graphics (yay) I did find out there are ways of controlling the anti-aliasing but it's over my head to get them working Flash Configuration in sIFR 3 Documentation & FAQ Which all sounds very groovy, but I think it's assuming I know anything at all about Action Script, and I really don't - the bare basics to say the least. I think this fellow seems to be the most important feature - preserveAntiAlias (Boolean) which should allow me to refine the anti-aliasing in Flash and a bit of trial and error will solve my problem. but when exporting my flash file it's saying "There is no method with the name preserveAntiAlias" Grrr web :P I'm probably missing something tiny and incredibly painfully obvious but any help would be much appreciated. |

Using sIFR makes websites scroll really slowly if you are browsing on a bog standard PC, also doesn't look that great on the Linux Flash Player. I would recommend you use the GD library, and should hopefully be more consistent. |

Well I've never had a problem with sIFR on my blog, or come across any slow downs on any PCs I've seen it be used on. But will run some tests if I get it going. Also GD on having a quick look around seems to create images using lots of stuff I don't understand, which I may as well just do myself in Photoshop. Struggling to find any decent examples of GD too though. I may still bail on sIFR entirely, but I do want to try this anti-aliasing thing before I give up on it. |
