how do i get rid of google links?

google search of my clients website

when my clients type his firm name, it takes you to the link that i had on my site while i was developing it.

i got rid of the links few days ago, but it is still there. the actual site is the 6th link which says Home.

well, how do i make his actual site appear #1, and how do i completely remove my practice link?

please help out guys.

Your best bet would be to not use "Home" as the title. Use their company name and/or some keywords.

Second, the links that were indexed on your site won't go away for a while. Months, possibly. Were you thinking Google searches the entire web every day?!? No, it updates every now and then - often depending on the popularity of a given site.

When I took down my old portfolio site it took 2 years for the all the Google results to disappear.

That's a good idea. Do a redirect from that file of yours (the first result) to their site.
