Can anyone recommend a good way of adding a search function to my site. I am not sure if there is an online service that can do this or I need to do use some php thingy!

Cheers

How about Google? You can have a Google search on your site...

Then use a CMS that has a built-in search feature? Most of them do.

you can use google cse - it's custom so can be tuned to search what ever data you feed it and is pretty customisable.

Co-op is great....it still needs a google logo but this can be incorporated within the search box itself which is more attractive! Thanks

Genius...that is perfect. Job done.

On another matter...two companies have been very nice and offered me a license for their software for free as the software would be used for a charity website. I cannot decide which is better - SendStudio (Email Marketing and Content Management by Interspire) or Mailium (Mailium - Easy email newsletters for the rest of us).

If you would happen to look at the demos could you tell me which you think is better? I think mailium has the edge at the moment. They are both newsletter / mailing list programs!

wow, google cse is pretty cool. haven't heard of that. mysql also has a very cool feature called fulltext search if you ever have an inkling toward that kind of thing...

Hi e.boal,

I am using oemPro from Octeth. It's really good. I heard Mailium for the first time from you. I know sendstudio as well, I am an ex-user. The reason why I switched to oemPro is their very very very slow update releases. They didn't release an update for 1,5 years. I am quite happy with oemPro.

If you choose to continue with mailium, keep me informed about your thoughts about this new product. Thanks.

Indeed, google CSE is really helpful. It seems to be a limitation of 5000 links- at least if you try to add independent websites. I used it to collect in one place all my favorite links (and get read of several tens of html and excel files).
