breaking free from tables

Hi. I've been using Dreamweaver and tables to design sites, but am keen to get away from this.

Does anyone know of a good book that teaches CSS and encourages designers to follow web standards?

For HTML/XHTML books check out the "Visual Quickstart" books which provide a great overview with visuals for those of us that don't like to read 200 pages of text.

Check out this book on HTML, XHTML and CSS all in one book.
HTML, XHTML, and CSS, Sixth Edition: Visual QuickStart Guide: Books: Elizabeth Castro

(I personally do not have this book but I have the same authors book on HTML and XHTML and it is great. The visual quickstart series is a good one all around)

For CSS books:

- CSS Mastery: Advanced Web Standards Solutions
- Zen of CSS Design, The: Visual Enlightenment for the Web
- Web Standards Solutions: The Markup and Style Handbook

O'Reilly makes some great books that will teach you what you need to know and I often refer back to them.
