saving an EPS with a transparent bkgrd

Hi,

I'm trying to understand how to alter an EPS file with Photoshop. Basically, I'm a webmaster, not a graphic designer, but nonetheless my boss would like me to modify one of our company logos. It seems simple enough - all I need to do is erase the words underneath the logo and replace them with new words. The EPS file I have to work with has a transparent background. However, when I save the file (Save As - > Photoshop EPS), then open it up again, the background is white and Photoshop doesn't ask me before opening what size/resolution I'd like to view the file in, as it does for the original EPS. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

Have you tried working with the logo in Illustrator? This is where the EPS was probably created...

babydutka is right. Open and edit it in Illustrator. Then save it. If you need it as a web image, you can open an appropiate size new file in Photoshop and use Place to ad the logo (and maintain the transparenc)

eps in photoshop with transparent bg

what you need to do - i s make the object a selection (ctrl or apple - click the layer to load it), then make it a path with a value of 0.5. In your paths pallete, right click and select clipping path, enter 0.2 as the value and then your done, save as your ps eps! Does the trick!

Hit-squad - you're right; But if the original logo was an illustrator one - it's useless to recreate the path (s).
