*4995 Logo Critique

Hey guys, I have a couple variations of a logo that I want your input on. It is for a clothing company in the states. Their name is 4995inc. I can't decide the size and placement of the icon on the top left side of the type. Which do you think works best.

Also, do you think the 'inc.' works in the second column? I'm not obligated to include it, but I think they might want a version with and without the 'inc.' for different applications.

Thanks.

Any more information than "clothing"? What are they aimed at, all age ranges, all styles, or something more specific?

The numbers themselves are ok... I don't get what the shape over the 4 is? Might be being slow though... And I agree, the shape doesn't really sit well with the type, the type is very stylised as it is, feels like they're fighting the little symbol for presence.

The inc doesn't work at least not like that, the kerning is too tight, space it out a bit if you're going to include an option but i'd consider using another font and bringing it down in size. Though like you said I doubt they'll want inc, including.

It's a clothing line geared to people with active lifestyles who push the boundries in what they are doing. So the audience is fairly large. It has roots in hip-hop and skateboarding, but is not limited to those activities.

The logo needs to capture PROGRESSION & PRESTIGE.

The symbol is abstract mark inspired from compasses and crowns. The three stripes represent the 3 founders. A skateboarder, a DJ and well.... a hustler.

The type and mark are intended to be used by themselves and together.

A simple yea or nea would be sufficient.

Type alone would suffice

I'm not here all the time to reply :P

I agree actually, I think type alone would be stronger, they just feel too different like two logos sat with one another which in essence is what they are I suppose, perhaps some sort of framing, or encapsulated boxes to give them a loose framework but not sure.

I would modify the 5's ascender to fit the 9's descender axis.

Thanks for the advice. I'm still working away... the client likes it a lot, but I agree there are still some bugs to work out.
