Argh! IE rears its ugly head... Help!

Ok guys, so I said the other day that the time will come soon when I need to call on the collective knowledge of the community to help out... and that time has come now. I'm having an issue with a page I am working on at work. We have had a requirement through to implement an onmouseover popup box with some info in it. This is all easy in firefox... but in IE its giving me real problems. I've posted a screenshot of symptoms, and the relevant code (xhtml and css) is below.

Basically the problem is that the popup box is for some reason appearing under other content, even though it is absolutely positioned, and has a high z-index set. I wondered if it would be a problem with the floated elements that are appearing over the top of it, but taking the floats off doesnt fix the layering problem! Any ideas would be really appreciated on this, as we are all quite stuck!

I guess that would be noone being able to help, or noone being interested, then?

I haven't had time to take a decent look, but have you tried

background-color: #fff

Maybe z-indexing might help as well

I've got the same problem with absolutely positioned elements on something.

Is the content absolutely positioned as well as the popup box?

nope... floated. Thats what I originally thought was having problems... but I deliverately broke the layout by taking the floats off to see if it fixed this particular problem, but no joy! I am literally at my wits end. I had to produce a preview of this... Luckily now that that is done I have some time to figure out what the hell is going on with it!

Remove underscores.
