Yeah I think your post count of 70 qualifies you for stage 2 of ripping

Like I say, sensible questions or problems get met with sensible answers from what i've seen. Its just the 'whats css and how do I put it in Flash' questions that get hammered.

ha classic. so is there degrees of noobness depending on your post count now? i should add that i was very rudely flamed by someone (names will be protected to hide the guilty) in my first week of joining too. and yes, i haven't forgotten you have to grow a thick skin these days in any forum. in my case i underwent several months of therapy before i was brave enough to dip my toe back in the shark-infested DT waters. i do agree to some extent that noobism is rife on this forum but the number of posts i would classify as complete gumby-head grade 1 are also above average

Why not try this

At least in Safari 2.0.4, the footer image is covering the main content, instead of being below everything else.

I experimented with a downloaded copy of your page, and removing " bottom: 0px;" from the "foot" class fixes the issue.

Also, make sure that all of your paragraphs are closed (<p>blahblah</p> instead of just <p>blahblah) I would recommend using list items (<li>) for the menu items, because its more correct.

I dont know what you can do, but there sure seems like a lot of classes in there, like the ones for the menu items - can you simplify it at all?

But you know better than to do that, so it's time to learn how to do things right!

Try Googling "css layouts" and reading up and learning how those work. You could certainly put those menu items below the header as they are, but it would be needlessly complicated.

You don't need to use positioning at all for a layout like that. Normal document flow and floats would work fine and be a lot more flexible - for instance, your content boxes don't grow at all.

Spend a lot of time at www.htmldog.com

And please stop trying to sell yourself as something you're not. That's irritating. You can't perform a service you don't know how to do!

Actually, this has inspired me. I'm going to start repairing cars in my spare time....even though I have no idea how an engine works! It can't be hard, I'll just bang around with a hammer and a wrench until it "works"!

Ugh. This is why I hate the term "Web 2.0". It was irritating enough when it was just a marketing buzzword, but now that it's morphed into a "style", it's lost all meaning.

Diagonal stripes, how bleeding edge!

I'm all in with you pgo, that's what I call helping.

Heh... sorry it took so long to reply. I got really sick the last ... long while.

Thanks for most of your guys' help . I said I wasn't very good at this, and the whole reason I set the page up (and made it free) Was so I could learn and get better through practice, and I thought it'd be a better learning experience to try to make a page someone else had in mind then just slap something together, like this page. I wasn't selling myself as anything <.<. I wasn't charging anyone anything, I never said it was professional work, and I never said you had to ask me to make a site for you. And I know some of you are really good at web design (some of you do it for a living?) But I'm not ... I'm just starting, I don't see how its anything at all like open heart surgery... And I'm sorry you don't like web 2.0 ... I think its a style <.<. And I really like the diagonal stripes. And isn't this a help forum... I'm not asking anyone to help build my website for me, just point out what I've messed up on (apparently a lot :P) so I can fix it and learn. And whats the name have to do with anything? I like the name, and its an inside joke among my friends. And I am just a kid ... I'm only 15.

Anyway... I sort of went on a rant. I didn't know about lists before, but now I know how they work (thanks to htmldog) so I'll try to fix that . That'll cut down a lot of code and empty divs. And I'll fix the footer too, I fooled around with it for a while and thats the best I got it.

Anyway thanks again guys ^^. Didn't mean to start a big flame war <.<.

WOW! Talk about thick skin - you handled that very well sorgey - except you'll get crushed for saying "I am just a kid....I'm only 15." I think you are doing great and you are making good progress.
Also, please understand that doing free sites is the best way to get jobs!

no-one is going to take you seriously with a name like jesuswasmadeofmayonnaise. in a worst case scenario you may even get complaints from religious-minded folk. this is a litigious age we live in unfortunately. you only have to see the fuss kicked up by Dan Brown in The Da Vinci Code to see how precious the Church gets over some issues but there you go...

I would suggest you use html editing software. (ie, dreamweaver, homesite) Your not doing yourself any good writing html in notepad.

And get a doctype on your page also.
