I suck at content areas

How do you do it? Whenever I sketch something I can make everything else look nice such as the navigation, footers, headers, even sidebars...but the content is a no-go. It's always some ugly, out of place blob in the middle of the site to me. What are some tips to hiding the ugliness of content because we all know content isn't important since nobody actually reads anything on the interwebs.

I think he was taking the piss? At least I hope so.

Spend 30 minutes browsing good websites, preferably ones that bear some relationship to the site you are currently building and actually look at them... look at how they deal with content, the padding, the line height, the font, the colours, how they have styled links... open the css files and get a grasp of how well built websites structure their code. Its all common sense really.

All of this is undermined by a client giving you almost no content and expecting you to build them a great site. I seem to get that alot.

"3 sentences.... right, you want this text on a seperate page? You sure? Ok. Do you want any images on this page? No. Ok. You want a minimal look then... no? Ok."

This seems to be a common problem for all site developpers. Also they say that we are professionals so we should invent the content of their site.

Most of them do not realise how important is the content. And also the majority treats thei site like a "must have" not like a promotion or publicity tool that can improve their business or general image on the market.
Until they will realise the importance of a website, good luck to those of you who receive site proposals whit a minimum of info.

But have you wondered how Search Engines indexes a site. First and most important is to be visible on the net. So the content should be structured so not only the user shoul read it, but the serch engines to find it and "read it".

Whe the content of site is well structured, and properly formated, you almost invite the user to read all or part of the content.
You do that by structuring your text in paragraphs, so the user wont be forced to read the whole content in one paragraph;
- do not make the text line too long, the user wiil skip some of the line;
- point your articles and content with representative pictures, small titles throughout the text content to invite the user to read further;
- CSS style is a very powerfull tool for text formatint (or site structure formating). Point out essential parts of the text by setting them other colors;

And the list is very long. Take a look at some magazines, or newspapers anithing that uses the content arangement to atract or impress viewers or readers.

Good luck.
