OK, so I know how to "do SEO" - good/semantic code, use of headings and keywords in those headings, inbound links, etc.

But I need to come up with an SEO strategy for our corporate parent site and would like any recommendations you can throw at me. Places to get inbound links, the possibility of adding a blog to the site (more frequently updated than "News"), etc. Any ideas/suggestions/etc. are appreciated from people who have managed a real, corporate-level SEO campaign.

A little background info - defense/security technology company and our site is a content site. We don't sell anything online - mostly just an information resource.
