A client wants to create a screensaver that features products that would be clickable, but with the ability to change products. Is this something that is possible with some combination of Flash and XML? If so, if anyone knows of any tutuorials, any links would be greatly appreciated. |

Yes this is possible with a combination of Flash & XML. You would need a 3rd party product in order to transform your SWF files in to fully fledged screensavers, I recommend this application: http://www.multidmedia.com/software/zinc/ There are probably other software options available on the market which you could Google for depending on your clients full needs and/or budget but the above product is the best one I've found. It would then be up to do you to do the Flash development work to enable to XML product displays. You could have a static XML file that the client updates, or you could create a browser interface (perhaps integrated with an existing online store if they have one?) which the customer then uses to select the display products with. For example, this could be done in PHP which would also be able to create the dynamic XML files on demand. - Mike |
