Flash/ Ftp issues

I'm building a website using Macromedia Flash and I'm having trouble with the file. I was told that since it was a flash file I neded a flash player in the folder. I downloaded the flash player and dropped it into the FTP folder for my site but it still doesn't load all the way. The black background I set up in flash shows but it never completely loads the file. Do I need a preloader or something and I missing a step? Help me help me please

You need to install the Flash player onto your machine.
It is a browser plug-in that allows Flash to be viewed across all websites.

Post us a link.

haha. marvelous advice. now put a loaf of bread between your legs, throw some salt over your left shoulder, and try again whilst holding the mouse with your other hand. I guarantee it'll work!!!

to clarify: no you don't a flash player in your ftp folder, but you do need to have the flash player plugin installed on your browser. You should almost always use a preloader unless the file is so small that the preloader is bigger than than the file it's loading, and you do need to export it as a swf and preferrably have it embedded in a html page.

oh yeah, and you shouldn't be making a site solely in flash (see every other flash site thread).

Not even for a personal porfolio? I can never be arsed with HTML/CSS/PHP. I'm not a web programmer so I taught myself flash as a way of building an online portfolio. Nothing trouser-stickingly good, but something that works and is more interesting than the average.
