Stock Imagery

Quick question; if a Client asks you for the original stock photo files after you've produced a design (as one of our pain-in-the-arse ones has), do you ever hand them over?

This, by the way, is the same Client I was adamant that we didn't hand over source files to, but was over-ruled by our MD, and lo-and-behold everything they've had churned out since by someone else is a hideous rip-off of the work that I did, using my original files, no less.

I may well be wrong but if my company bought an image from getty etc, then only my company has royalty free rights to use that image. If your client wats to pay to buy those rights from you, then yes, they can have 'em.

Like I say, I may well be talkin outta me arse!

That's pretty much what I was thinking. Where we bought the images from owns them, we've simply bought a license to use them.

For once my MD actually listened to what I was telling her... Amazing.
