Illustrator Q

Because im shit with Quark and that, I'm doing my yearbook in Illustrator.

Talked to the printers, and I need to layout pages on A4 with a 3mm bleed all round. I've got the rulers out in illus, but is there a way of measuring exactly 3 mil in from the sides?

Rulers will give you the exact measurements.
You can use the transform tool to set the dimensions of a box and then apply the rulers to the shape nodes.
