div position controlled using javascript

the issue: A user clicks on a link at the top of the page that targets a named div further down the page.
I have a div that sits at the top of the z-index and want this to move down the page at the same time - seen it done with a navigation div on the left of the page that follows the users actions).

Its done with javascript I'm sure of that but I cant find anything that will point me to the solution... all the searches Ive done turn up those fucking awful 'content scrolling within a div' tutorials

any ideas or examples? Any help much appreciated

Do you want it to move down the page (in an animated fashion over a short period of time) or just jump instantly to its destination?

the idea was to get it to move gradually but to be honest, right now, I'll do it anyway I can

Oh, neat, I'm actually looking for something like that.

"Did this product meet your expectations?"

If they select "No" I want a text input to come up with "Please explain why this product didn't meet your expectations."

Just a simple show hide script needed for that. You can find that and other essential javascript functions here:

Thanks for that stickmus. I really need to read my "javascript: The Definitive Guide" and "DOM Scripting" someday.

"DOM Scripting" is a fantastic book, I really enjoyed it. One of the few books I actually found hard to put down, so much so I read the bloody thing in one weekend. Didn't digest it all though so I'll have to re-read it. Sigh.
