Path problems with tif's...

I am trying to use some tif's in quark with embedded paths. However, in quark the embedded path option is greyed out as if there is no path there? The path has been done correctly etc.

When I use another mac and simply do a 'save as' and resave the file it works ok with the same path etc. I've had a scan through the settings etc but cant seem to find what might be stopping quark picking up the path.

Anyone else had this problem?

Have a look in photoshop at 'clipping path' in the path options, that's probably what this is.

As sticknose said, the problem is probably the clipping path set in the tiff file. Otherwise use an EPS and export the document as a PDF and print from that.

Already tried the pdf, it still prints the eps's as 72dpi screen previews. I understand the problem is with the path in photoshop, its what the problem is I need to know

What exactly are you trying to do? What have you done? Have you set up your paths as clipping paths in photoshop, then saved them as eps/tiff files, then imported them into quark? Which version of Quark are you using?

I am printing to a non-script printer which means i cannot print eps's, therefore I have to use tiffs. I also cannot use a pdf as postscript and pdf are based on the same imaging model = duznae work

I have created the path the same as any other path in photoshop then imported the graphic into a picture box in quark. Works fine with an eps but when the exact same file is 'saved as' a tiff the embedded path option in quark is then greyed out, not allowing me to use the path

I'm gonna get onto quark support just thought i would try here first, thanks anyway

I used to have an epson 1290 and that printed pdf's fine. Eps and pdf are based on the same but pdf's are supposed to be printable on anything, what options are you setting when you export to pdf? Defaults could be do downsample images to 72dpi which may be what's happening.

I'm not saying the 1290's great - I had more than enough problems with mine - but it will print from a pdf.

I am using a commercial setting that I have used for many projects, its a seperate server we have set up. Def not downsizing anything. However that is not my problem, I want to figure out the loss of the path in a tiff.

If I use another mac the path shows up no problem in the tiff, so it must be some sort of setting somewhere. Just cant see anything in photoshop thats different to the other mac that works no probs. We both use the exact same versions of software etc

And the 1290 will print a pdf no problem - just aslong as there are no eps's used in the original file. The eps will print at 72dpi.

The exact same files work on a second machine?
Have you tried searching the help files/Quark site/Google?
Sounds like a reinstall might be in order if you can't find the answer there.

Whats the v. of PhotoChop? Have you 'saved' the path as (default) Path 1? A path will be saved in the .tif, but it needs to be further saved from the paths palette. As far as I'm aware.....
