index.php

Seems like a real dumb-ass question but...

uploaded a site for a client which i did in PHP. Slight problem though. index.php doesn't load up by default. only index.html will work

anyone know how to fix this?

Cheers!

You can do it in the server settings or stick this in your .htaccess file :

DirectoryIndex index.php

cheers Oli

I wish i had access to their server setting. they already had themselves some shit hosting so all I can do is get ftp access.

I tried dropping in an .htaccess file with that code but doesn't seem to have solved the problem.

Looks like I'm going to have to try and chase down their host

Cheers anyway mate

It's a lot easier to do if you have your own server...or if a company hosts your own private server for you. Even in a shared hosting environment, any company worth a shit would have php be a default index page. In the meantime, go with what bogey and max h said, and don't hang your head in shame.
