This may be a silly question but:

Ive done a design with a small navbar shown on top of an image banner (that would swap images either on a timer or from page to page). As you'll see from the attached jpeg, the idea was to have the background of the navbar semi-transparent using a png and then just have div z-indexed above the banner.
The client has come back and asked if the banner can be in flash. Will the z-index work with flash underneath? I dont want to say it can be done if its going to cause me grief. And I dont want to have to put the navbar within the flash file.

Any help/suggestions appreciated as always

I think it will work if you set wmode to transparent in the flash anim

Are you sure, Emil? Surely the transparency in the flash file is only related to things sitting behind it? The navbar is supposed to sit above/in front of the flash file?

as an aside... whats happened to your avatar? Dont like this new one much
