Thanks for the reply nakedintruder... I figured it out, FINALLY! This has been messing with me for AGES!.. anyway, after a good while digging through the WordPress support pages I found that it's caused by blank lines at the begining or end of the WP files... so I went through the entire lot, deleted all blank lines at the end of the files... and boom, validated RSS. Ahhhh, relief
