Quark 6.5 - problems with a locked file

I have a Quark 6.5 doc from an outside source (freelancer). Originally recieved as a read only doc - i changed the permissions to read and write - but still having problems saving. An unknown error occurs on a save as. Save produces a "Duplicate Name..." error message. Kinda' strange - the doc isn't locked and like I said before, i've made sure the permissions are read and write.

And yes I'm switching over to InDesign... soon

Its a corrupt file.
