Can't Decide on a Domain

I'm putting together a more professional professional website. It's almost done, but I've recently been having second thoughts about the domain - patrickgoneill.com - I'm worried it's too long, basically.

Anyone think pgoneill.com or patrick-oneill.com (drop the "g") or even pat-oneill.com would work better?

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I understand that, but I have trouble with the hyphen. "My website is pat dash oneill dot com."

The other problem I run into is that there are multiple spellings of my last name, so what if someone tried to go to oneil or oneal - I'll be damned if I'm going to register all those...

Well, the hypen isn't that much of a problem I think. Especially since I get too see most of the people asking for my website, looking at me in disbelief 'How come, no hyphen? A single word?'
But I do understand your concerns about getting it right in terms of pronunciation...

Sometimes Romanian might prove useful, since we usually don't have that many homophone words... But that's of no help to you

I could go with something Romanian, but...[redneck]people 'round these parts don't take too kindly to foreigners[/redneck]

So, which one is it, people...

It's friendlier - since all my friends call me "Pat" - "Patrick" is more professional, I think, but maybe I'm just an idiot.

PGO

As Emil has said - O'Neill looks like one ill in lowercase. You can probably see O'Neill cos you are ued to looking at it - not so much a parody, but a perception. My perception was also one ill.

... maybe something different unless you are happy with joe bloggs percieved understanding ?

Maybe. But I already started what turned out to be a 4 page thread about "naming myself" - after which I decided that I'd just go with my actual name.

I guess I could do "pgo design" or "pgo creative" or "pgo media" or something like that...but I don't really like any of those.

Agree with no hyphens comment, not easy to communicate verbally.
The whole goneill thing has bad connotations esp if for business.
Not really funky is it?
