help with scanned image

I have scanned a drawing of a rabbit and I am wanting to create the outline of the drawing in illustrator so that it can be cut out on a vinyl machine, can anyone tell me how I can do this, I have been trawling around illustrator to find out how to do it but I can't seem to find the answer. Can anyone help?

agree with Gray... if you want a good result stay away from an automated choice like live trace - just draw around it yourself

didnt mean that to sound harsh but its the truth. You can spend a lot of time messing with live-trace trying to get a good result and I personally have never been completely happy with the results

Practice makes perfect.

Put your scan on 1 layer and then lock the layer. Create a second layer that will be used to trace the drawing. When you have finished just delete layer 1.
