anyone used contribute as a CMS
Hi, I have a client that wants to use contribute to update the site. The left nav changes depending on what section they are in. If they add a page, they'll need to add a link, and that will need to propegate throughout the site. I'm using dreamweaver to create the templates. The top nav remains constant, so that's built into the template, but the left nav changes depending on what section they are in. If that's an editable region, then any changes obviously won't be reflected in other pages. Normally I would use .inc files - but is there an easy way for them to add a new page and a link on the left nav that propagates throughout the site without havinga differnet template for each section? (the left nav is the only aspect that changes). I guess I could create a different template for each section, but that would seem to be overkill. I've never looked at contribute before. NOt sure if that makes any sense at all - here is a sample - (names have been changed to protect the onnocent!) the in this section is the where they would need to add a link. |

You'll need to check on this, but you might be able to create a library item in Dreamweaver, which works in a similar fashion to an include. Have a look through the Dreamweaver help section, which tells you how to do this. The reason I say you may need to check it out is that I'm not sure if the client will be able to edit the library item in Contribute... |

I may be wrong, but Idon't think oyu can use d/weaver library items in contribute I'll try the include idea - i had set up a template for each different section which seems like over kill as there's only one 'box' where the content would be changed - the rest would stay the same and any changes to the global nav would need to be changed in 3 places - I thought includes might be tricky for the client and not supported in contribute - I'll check it out - cheers for the tip |

Aye there's one template but there are 5 subnav includes that change depending on what page you're on - if you see what I mean. So if they want to make a new page, they'll need to insert an include - you don't seem to be able to do it with contribute |
